SECOND-FLOOR ADDITIONS
A second-floor primary suite brings the bedroom, private bathroom, and walk-in closet together in one considered retreat. A generous sleeping area, space for a quiet sitting corner, and well-placed windows create comfort, privacy, and natural light.
The details make the difference: a double vanity, a spacious walk-in shower, thoughtfully planned closet storage, and coordinated flooring, doors, and trim. The layout keeps daily routines easy while giving each part of the suite a purpose.
Planning considers the existing structure, staircase access, plumbing, and the roofline so the addition connects naturally with the home below.

KITCHEN EXTENSIONS
A kitchen extension creates space for the way your household lives: preparing meals, sharing breakfast, and bringing everyone together. A well-proportioned island adds a useful work surface and casual seating, while a connected dining area makes everyday meals and entertaining feel effortless.
Carefully planned cabinetry keeps cookware and pantry essentials close at hand. Durable countertops, layered lighting, and coordinated finishes bring function and character together. Skylights and generous garden doors can draw daylight deeper into the room and connect the kitchen with the outdoors.
The design considers appliance placement, clear walking paths, ventilation, and the transition into existing rooms, giving the expanded kitchen a natural place at the heart of the home.

ALAN SASSONFounder, Build 1
Oakhurst, New Jersey
A BUILDER. A BUSINESS OWNER. YOUR NEIGHBOR.
Alan Sasson’s construction experience took shape through the complete build-outs of four retail stores. Bringing each space from concept to opening meant coordinating interior layouts, wall and ceiling systems, flooring, storefront construction, and the finishing details that brought everything together. Alan also developed lighting layouts to highlight products, drawing attention to merchandise while creating a cohesive retail environment.
From early on, Alan developed an eye for detail and quality—understanding how materials, proportions, and careful workmanship shape the finished space. Those projects established an approach grounded in thorough planning, precise execution, and attention to how a space looks, feels, and functions.
He carries that same approach into residential construction. Today, Build 1 focuses on home additions, extensions, and basement conversions, creating thoughtfully built spaces that connect naturally with the existing home and the way its owners live.

Thank you for everything you've done for me. My basement came out beautiful! It's something we've been meaning to get done for a while.
More space for family
Our house was too cramped. I couldn't thank you enough, Alan. You turned a patch of dirt and grass into something my kids and my family will be forever thankful for.
The building experience
Thank you for everything. A smooth process, and everything turned out great.
The finished result
Really professional service. You delivered, and then some! Everything looks amazing.
Attention to detail
Every little detail Alan puts in makes a difference. After a disappointing experience with another contractor, it's so nice to see everything looking good and feeling high quality.
Home extension
Everything looks amazing. We wanted a modern gray look that matched the rest of our house, and you nailed it. You can hardly tell it's an extension.
Basement transformation
Our basement went from a dull space with leaks and foundation issues to an amazing living space. The issues were addressed, and the difference is incredible.

BEFORE WE BUILD
Yes. We help you identify questions about your proposed space and point you toward the appropriate local zoning office. Zoning is generally handled by your municipality, while construction permits are a separate step. We provide guidance rather than submitting zoning applications or guaranteeing approval. Some coastal, flood-prone, or wetlands properties may need additional review.
Start with what you need the space to do. We can discuss your goals, existing layout, and property. Feasibility depends on your home, site conditions, and local requirements; the first conversation helps identify what to explore next.
Based in Oakhurst, we welcome inquiries from homeowners throughout Monmouth County, including Ocean Township, Long Branch, West Long Branch, Deal, Red Bank, Middletown, and Rumson. Tell us your town when you request a consultation.
Both are possibilities worth exploring. The right approach depends on the existing structure, lot, and local approvals. Share what you have in mind, and we can discuss the next steps for your home.
Every home and scope is different. Size, structural work, finishes, and site conditions all affect the investment. We start by understanding your priorities so the scope and budget can be discussed together.
Yes. Creating more living space can also mean making better use of the space you already have. Ask about a basement conversion when you submit your project details.
Build 1 will use the contact details you provide to follow up about your project. The initial conversation is a chance to discuss your home, what you need, and the next steps. Submitting an inquiry does not commit you to a project.
